Problematic thing is that I dare not commit these things to users: it seems to work for 99% of players now, and I cannot test on lots of rigs without risking to break stuff... So I think I will just post a modified exe on the website and leave it at that.

@Anonymous: there was too much traffic to the site, so it went down. A quick fix would be to re compile proun without manifest embedding (see here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235229(v=vs.80).aspx). Then edit the manifest file and removing the section about the 6195 version.

After that, you can always still try to include the correct crt dlls (like the one provided by Macuyiko over ronimo-games forums) in the proun folder . If possible, try to rely on the dlls provided with visual studio 2005 in
%PROGDIR%\Microsoft Visual Studio 8.0\VC\redist\x86\Microsoft.VC80.CRT . The key here is to depend on only one crt version (for proun exe and plugins / dependencies), and include this specific version on the proun folder (so no need for a redist install)

good luck with the resolution of this problem, have face it before, and it have gone away only after some swearing and an all-nighter :)dlanhttp://twitter.com/#!/dlan_gantznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3064325214589649535.post-9350990877370678372011-06-25T12:29:11.396+02:002011-06-25T12:29:11.396+02:00Some people on the Proun forum are also getting so...Some people on the Proun forum are also getting some interesting results: they got Proun to run on their computers despite the vcredist installer failing:

http://www.ronimo-games.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1027

Do you think their solution could be turned into something automatic that the installer can do?Joost van Dongenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00569566310604620045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3064325214589649535.post-26230334392546430722011-06-25T11:51:23.653+02:002011-06-25T11:51:23.653+02:00yes,(at least for the ogre DLLs) that's why it...yes,(at least for the ogre DLLs) that's why it's troublesome to use static link when you start to have multiple dependencies / plugin.

you could also consider deploying vc++ dll as private assemblies (described here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235291(v=VS.80).aspx), that would require compilation of your libraries using the same crt (irrklang should be ok as is, since it don't depend on any crt dll)dlanhttp://twitter.com/#!/dlan_gantznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3064325214589649535.post-77250985643619220502011-06-24T22:48:10.441+02:002011-06-24T22:48:10.441+02:00Does that mean I would also need to statically lin...Does that mean I would also need to statically link my libraries?
